UNIT 1 ASSIGNMENT 2 Problem 1-8: John Dough’s bakery in Waxahachie, Texas, specializes in chocolate chip cookies. While John’s business does not yet have the national presence, like Mrs. Fields, he does have a strong statewide reputation. Recently, John has been receiving some out-of-state orders through the company’s website. Through the use of managerial accounting, John is beginning to think about the potential for growing his out-of-state business. Managerial accounting is defined as a profession that involves partnering in management decision making, devising planning and performance management systems, and providing expertise in financial reporting and control to assist management in the formulation and implementation of an organization’s strategy (Davis & Davis, 2014). Using managerial accounting would be beneficial for John to grow his out-of-state business because it would provide him with relevant information and analysis that would assist in making strategic decisions. In order for John to grow his business in new directions, his actions and decisions must be both effective and efficient. Managerial accounting is used by internal users, has no mandated rules, shows information from previous years and expected future results, and can be used as needed. The biggest benefit of this type of accounting is that is brings value to the business.

This evaluation will also provide the foundation for Part 2 of the Project. “The Organization” may be understood and used in three ways:You may use your own employer as the basis for the Project – IF your employer is a manufacturer, is appropriate to the Assignment and has the requisite information to support a graduate-level analysis. Use of an organization that is not appropriate may result in a diminished score. If you have any doubts, please contact your instructor for additional guidance.Another possibility would be to use a local manufacturing company willing to help you with your Project, even if you are not an employee.Next, if you are not employed, or if your employer is not appropriate to the assignment, you may select a different organization.
