We aim to respond to all queries, questions and concerns from parents/carers within one to two working days and resolve them within five working days. Parents/carers can contact the school in the following ways:

  • Send post to either the Hillgrove Site or Borrington Site
  • Telephone the reception desk at 01562 512880
  • Telephone the ‘Attendance Officer’ at 01562 512880 Ext 205
  • Email enquiries to the school at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or directly to the relevant member of staff in the table below. Please ‘cc’ the line manager. We would be grateful if emails were only sent to one member of staff. To ensure that this method of communication is used as efficiently and purposefully as possible, we will use the following protocols:
    • All emails will be responded to during working hours and within one to two working days dependent upon the level of concern/nature of the concern.
    • If an issue cannot be resolved satisfactorily within a two email exchange (four in total), then a face to face meeting in school should be convened.
    • Staff are not expected to respond to an email deemed/perceived to be abusive or aggressive.
    • In some instances, a parent/carer may feel that an issue has not been resolved satisfactorily. However, the school retains the right to deem the matter closed where it feels due diligence has been afforded to the concern.

If you have not had a reply to a letter, telephone call or email within one to two working days hours or you feel the matter had not been dealt with appropriately, please contact the headteacher by writing to him at school, phoning his PA (Kerry Beard) or emailing him at This email address is being protected from spambots. Headteacher's Welcome

We are very proud of our school and this site should give you an insight into what a wonderful place King Charles I School is to study and work.

We are proud of our academic ethos and extensive enrichment programme. As you would expect, the academic achievement of our students is paramount. Whilst we are focussed on academic outcomes, we know all our students as individuals. We take great pride in developing relationships between students, staff and families, in order that we can ensure that success is desirable, demanded and achievable. This striving for success is exemplified in our ambition-‘supporting successful futures’.

We complement our academic curriculum with an extensive enrichment programme. From after school clubs to international trips, we give our students access to the cultural literacy to enable them to fully participate in adult educated life.

We operate with a strict approach to discipline ensuring our students develop the habits that will be necessary to be successful independent adults. Our students are therefore a credit to us and we are very proud of their example. Students are able to learn in calm, purposeful classrooms.

At King Charles I School the culture is that we care about our school, we respect others and we do our best and we expect our students to:

  • work hard and do their school work to the best of their ability
  • get involved in all that the school has to offer both in and out of the classroom.
  • attend school punctually, every day and in full school uniform.
  • show respect and courtesy to those around them and to our school

Our students are smart, purposeful and courteous. They work with commitment in all aspects of school life. They are supported by a dedicated team of staff who expect the most from them.

I hope that this website provides you with a flavour of life at King Charles I School. If you wish for any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Stephen Brownlow
